WELCOME
4ale run breaks for those with a passion for real ale, craft brewing and beer in general. Now in its ninth year, the concept of running holidays with real ale as a central theme has blossomed from running Real Ale Walks, to setting up our own mini microbrewery, brewery workshops, beer tastings and beer themed evenings and gifts.
Our 2012 itinerary is packed with ideas for real ale breaks with opportunities to walk to real ale pubs, brew ale for the Olympics and Diamond Jubilee and to stay in a brewery and receive you very own named bottle of unique craft ale.
All of our breaks are available as gifts with a voucher and information pack for your loved one (or best mate) and suitable for all pockets – from an overnight stay in our 4* guesthouse to an all inclusive weekend of pub walks, quizzes and dinners in local pubs.
We can even design a package for you and your friends or family, you tell us what you would like to do and we’ll put together a break just for you.
Whatever your interest in ale, beer, breweries, pubs, CAMRA or even lager, we have the 4ale experience.
We wouldn’t give a 4ale for anything else!
REAL ALE WALKS
“The walking holiday for people who wouldn’t been seen dead on a walking holiday”. These pub walk weekends are perfect for those loving country walking, village pubs and real ale.
Starting on a Friday we meet in our mini microbrewery for a tasting of whatever is in production and supper before wandering to one of the Village’s three pubs for a pint or two of classic British beer. On the Saturday, after a hearty breakfast, we head off over the hills to one of the nearby villages to taste one of the local brews at lunchtime. The evenings see dinner in a 17thC coaching inn with a fun quiz and plenty of opportunity to sample real ale, beer and cider. Sunday morning means a short walk into the foothills of the Quantocks before saying goodbye at midday. Breaks start from £175.00 (all inclusive). For further information on our pub walks, click here.
BREWERY WORKSHOPS
The chance to play at being a brewer for a day – with loads of hands-on experience. These sessions are themed (click here for details).
Arrive on the Friday evening for a tutored tasting and dinner to get into the mood for a day of brewing on the Saturday. Depending on what is going to be made, the day usually starts at 8.00am with mashing. After breakfast we move on to the run-off, boiling and then start of fermentation stage. Throughout the day we learn about how real ale is made, the history of beer and how a microbrewery works. Depending on group size*, we have dinner in one of the pubs and test our appalling beer knowledge with a fun quiz. On Sunday we check on the progress of the beer before departure after breakfast clutching a bottle of unique craft ale brewed specially for participants. Prices £175 for participants and £99 for non-participants.
BEER TASTINGS AND THEMED DINNERS
Throughout the year we run beer tasting evenings and themed dinner, bed and breakfast breaks with all courses being matched with an appropriate beer. Details here.
THE GIFT OF BEER
For those not wanting anything too organised, why not just come and stay for the night? There are three pubs in the village, two of which provide food and the Quantocks are the ideal place to relax for a day or two. In addition to the stay, we can provide a bottle of unique 8.5% old ale individually labelled with your loved one’s name and any significant event and a look at the brewery. All this for a supplement of £15.00 on the standard room price. For further details click here.
CHRISTMAS & NEW YEAR
Want to do something different this Christmas or New Year – why not stay in a brewery?
PLEASE NOTE due to licensing restrictions we are unable to sell beer to anyone other those legitamate guests staying at our premises.
Gift vouchers are avilable for all our breaks.
